Strict wildfire prevention and insurance standards established in California are expected to reach the Austin area in the coming years.

To help our community prepare, we’ve adapted key recommendations from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) specifically for Steiner Ranch properties. In partnership with Lake Travis Fire Rescue and the Austin Firewise Alliance, we are actively monitoring industry trends and advocating for Travis County homeowners within the insurance industry.

- Once you are certified, contact your insurance company to ask if they offer discounts
  - If your insurance has been denied or cancelled due to wildfire risk, please contact Lake Travis Fire Rescue, or send an email to SteinerFirewise@gmail.com
  - Note: At this time, USAA is the only home insurance company we know of that offers discounts for being in a certified National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firewise Community and/or IBHS certified protected home. Please contact us if you are aware of any others and we'll post here.
